Deborah's LIFEline Raised in a family where divorce crept in like a thief in the night, where a father disappears and a mother becomes lost in her overwhelm and grief, Deborah's world at the the age of 8 was shaken. Distrust and abandonment issues feelings of worthlessness, left unaddressed, plagued her. Deborah allowed her own emotions (fear of failure, fear of success, fear of trusting, fear of being seen as worthless) to sabotage opportunity. after opportunity, after opportunity for success in all areas of her life . After 10 years on Wall Street, her opportunities exhausted, she found herself broke, alone, and unemployed..
It was in that moment (after a unfullfiling pity party and a really good cry) that she made a decision to master her fears and not be a victim of her past. That decision has been the guiding force in her life ever since.
Since 1988, Deborah has dedicated her time and talents to learning all she could about fear mastery, success and healthy relationships including taking out two years to gain certification in Fear Mastery approaches for coaches. She is passionate about supporting people in overcoming their stumbling blocks and fears. She has implemented comprehensive programs and events that have help thousands of adults to make successful transitions as she helped them navigate the realities of shifting corporate cultures. She gained a reputation as the person to call when someone needed to be ‘talked down’ from that very high place of stress that they can get to when things are going wrong.
In 1990 she created and was editor-in-chief of the brash and innovative Solutions newsletter and later as a much sought after contributing editor for the award-winning, Topics magazine. She used humor and skill to engage and inform her readers enabling them to be more open to new technology and it’s impact to their ‘work a day’ world. As her skills evolved so did her audience. Her work caught the attention of senior management and she was tapped to counsel with a large unit of managers to assist them with implementing the cultural shifts and spearheading the reorganization needed to repair a very negative public image.
In addition to her work in the private sector, from 1990 to 1993, through volunteer efforts, she got to work with teenagers who made their living and their home on the streets of Times Square, and with birth mothers who had, for all the right reasons, made the difficult decision to place their children for adoption. During this time she witnessed over and over again the devastating effects of fear, in the absence of education and support and became a staunch advocate for both.
In 1995 she was asked to direct the corporately sponsored Courage To Succeed Mentoring Program based in New York City which was developed to give inner city youth access to mentors in corporate America with the intention of broadening their horizons on the many opportunities and possibilities and support that existed for them. In 1995 she also married her soul mate and in 1998 retired from the corporate world to raise her young family and tackle her newest frontier in fear: Marriage and Parenthood!
In 2005, after experiencing first hand the positive impact that coaching, outside of a corporate environment, can have for marriages, parents and youth, she opened Crossing Bridges Life Coaching and for the past 10 years, as she has raised her own teenagers and nurtured her marriage of over 20 years, she has had the honor of helping others get out of their own way and build the life, the love, the marriage, the family that brings them and those that they love, the truest joy.
Today, as her children head off to or prepare for college, Deborah has decided to return as well and is working toward a Marriage and Family Therapy degree at Brigham Young University.
